What is a Christian Ashram?

The Christian Ashram, a spiritual retreat, was introduced to this country by the late Dr. E. Stanley Jones, world famous missionary, evangelist, and author. The word “Ashram” is from the Sanskrit, meaning “away from work.” Dr. Jones said Christians should have such a retreat with Jesus Christ at the head.

The only qualification for membership in the fellowship is that you come as you are, but that you want to be different, to be the person God intends you to be. The Christian Ashram has been called a “healing of love to body, mind and spirit.”
The Christian Ashram is interdenominational and interracial. We endeavor to remove all barriers that separate Christians one from another. Not only barriers of class and position, but barriers of envy, resentment, grudges and prejudices that need to be broken down. Often, during the Christian Ashram, family relationships are restored and loyalty to Christ and the Church renewed.
The goal is for all who attend to go forth proclaiming with their lips and with their lives that “JESUS IS LORD.”
